The Role:

The Director of Product Management will own the core loop between students and teachers in Newsela’s product.  You will leverage your deep understanding of our users and their needs, in-product behavioral data and insights to develop a cohesive roadmap that aligns with the overall business and product strategy, delivering user value and business impact.  You will partner closely with key stakeholders across Product Design, Content, Technology, Product Analytics, Marketing and Customer and a team of product managers to build solutions that meet the needs of our users.  You will be deeply involved in the entire product development life cycle, from product discovery to definition and delivery.  You will play a critical role in optimizing our key features to drive deep engagement and frequency of use with the product.

Why You’ll Love This Role:

This role sits at the critical intersection of enabling users to be served up the best Newsela has to offer. The strategy and vision you help transform into reality will directly impact the learning and teaching experience of over 37 million students and 2.5 million teachers across the U.S. Your work will enable teachers and students nationwide to discover and use the most relevant, engaging content in a timely, efficient manner, which will ultimately help drive higher engagement with Newsela’s learning content and better learning outcomes. You will have the opportunity to help shape the future of K-12 education by building and delivering delightful, engaging, intuitive products, and will help influence our product roadmap as we evolve our product suite. You’ll get to work closely with our content product managers who define our portfolio learning, and will partner across the organization with Go-To-Market and Technology teams to influence strategy and execution of work. You’ll also be able to grow and develop your own team.

 Why We’ll Love You:

You are a creative, methodical product leader with more than 7 years experience building, refining, and optimizing a digital product ecosystem. You clearly and convincingly use data to make smart decisions about where to focus in order to achieve product goals, particularly in content-heavy experiences, with exploration of content and user onboarding. You have a deep understanding of content ecosystems and user behavior in navigating and exploring content (bonus if in the EdTech space), including familiarity with content production processes and needs. You’re a flexible, effective communicator, able to fluidly translate product needs and insights across technical, operational, design, and leadership audiences.
