TIDAL is seeking a NYC based Vice President of Business Development. The successful candidate will lead our global business development team by determining strategies and operationalizing execution of our business development and partnership initiatives, based on our vision, as well as our brand and business objectives. Reporting to our COO, the Vice President of Business Development will be adept at working with partners, negotiating deals, driving deal implementation, optimizing performance and delivering successful outcomes for the business. The candidate will need to be comfortable working in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment, in conjunction with all areas of our business, including technology, marketing, artist relations, finance, legal, and other functions.
Responsibilities
- Oversees our global business development team of 5+ professionals, with additional management responsibilities on guiding and delivering business development projects with our technology, marketing and regional teams
- Develop our business development strategy, in accordance with TIDAL’s vision, market position, current and planned product and content capabilities, and our business objectives
- Direct P&L responsibility on managing our existing key partnerships across all verticals (including, as examples, Sprint / T-Mobile, Vodafone, Telefonica, Mercedes-Benz, Ford, Walmart, Best Buy, Sony, Dolby Atmos and others)
- Building a pipeline of new deal opportunities across all verticals, driving revenue generation, subscriber acquisition and retention, brand support, and international expansion
- Extensively interacting with all areas of our business, actively participating in shaping and evaluating our business strategies
- Define our approach to new opportunities and existing partnerships across verticals (such as telecom, automotive, retail and others) and in various geographies
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university; Business, economics and/or finance background preferred; Master’s Degree / MBA a plus
- Has 8+ years of prior experience in business development in a technology driven environment, management consultancy or investment banking, with a strong preference for relevant experience with digital content, media and/or telecom
- Track record of managing an expansive business development team, ideally with specific experience with digital content (music specific experience preferred) and/or subscription applications
- Proven experience in leading teams at all aspects of deal delivery (prospecting, sourcing, negotiating and closing) with leading global brands
- Adept at fostering strategic partnerships across various industries
- Strong financial understanding of business cases and ability to guide the team in modeling different outcomes in terms of P&L impact
- Strong networking and presentation skills; Experience creating compelling pitch materials including editing, writing copy and sourcing content
- A “sleeves rolled up” entrepreneur and team player; creative and strategic thinker with a can do positive attitude
- Ability to build & nurture relationships internally and externally
- Willing to travel
- NYC based or willing to relocate
